Stock Show...

Tuesday, Kennedy and I went out to the Stock Show to watch Braeden Lenz(Lynn Hodde’s son) show his pig. Braeden did a good job in showmanship. It was good to get to visit with Lynn and Stacie while cheering on Breaden. After a corn dog, roasted corn, and fresh squeezed lemonade it was time to call it quits.

Shapes and Colors....

Kennedy really enjoys to help out in the kitchen. One of the ways that I am able to cook dinner or clean up is by letting her play with water, noodles, or anything that she can toss back and forth between a number of bowls. I figure this is also a good learning tool for shapes and colors. The shapes of the bowls...she'll say "circle" and then the different colors in the bowl. My loving husband came in and saw her playing with the water that had turned completely green. He must think I do a really good job being a mom when he stopped and asked " So, your letting her play with Fabuloso(it's a green cleaning product)?" You can imagine my facial expression.

Potty training time!

We were at the neighbors Monday playing and their little girl has almost mastered potty training. She had us all follow her into the bathroom so she could show Kennedy what a big girl she was. When we got home we asked Kennedy to see if she wanted to go. After many times sitting on the toilet then folding it up to a step stool, acting like she was dumping the contents in the big toilet, and climbing on the bed we had success. We were like kids that just won a game, giving one another high fives and jumping up and down. It is going to be a long road, but I feel there will be an end in sight. These are some pictures of the panties that we had bought for Kennedy. Kennedy liked wearing them on the outside of her clothes. She finally ran around with them correctly.

Mikayla and Manuels wedding

This weekend Kennedy and I went to Mikayla (Trey’s cousin) and Manuel’s wedding in Kingsville. Both bride and groom looked stunning. We had such a great time with the mariachis, dancing, and the delicious food. Kennedy wore me out running around. She was so excited to see her little cousin Luke. Here are some of the photos from the weekend.

Laura had used some old contact solution which caused a chemical reaction in her eye. I couldn't resist getting this photo of her.

Austin Stockshow

Sunday, we went with Mel, Kirk, and Gracie to the Austin Livestock Show. Kennedy wasn’t too keen on the petting zoo. Gracie, however, loved it. She loved on all the animals and enjoyed riding the miniature ponies. We tried to get Kennedy to ride but she wouldn’t let go of us. She did love the pig races and riding the whale carnival ride. I wouldn’t recommend the whale for adults because my legs kept getting jarred every time it went up and down.

Happy 50th, Tracy Sims!

Happy Birthday, Tracy Sims! Tracy turns 50 on March 25, but to surprise her, her friends and husband helped plan a party for her. She was caught off guard which was great! Here are some of the photos that I took before it got crowded and the band started to play.

Austin Film Awards

For the past five years, Tracy and I have been asked if we would like to attend the Austin Film Awards. Our company sponsors the parking so we generally get nice seating and for two of the years have had the opportunity to go back stage and have our photo taken with one of the stars.

Trey had to work so my sister, Melanie, came with me. Everyone that we met was so nice. I especially liked the way Kyle Chandler (the coach from Friday Night Lights and also the SWAT team guy that exploded on Grey’s Anatomy) introduced his wife to us and then when he was up on stage. He either screwed up big…or is really just a loving husband (I like to think it’s the latter). Other Friday Night Lights cast that we got to chat with were Brad Leland (Buddy-the annoying coach) and Connie Button (the principle/wife to the coach). Both were very kind and didn’t mind chatting with you.

When it came time to go back stage it was towards the end of the night. Billy Bob came off stage and asked if I would hold his award. I did with a huge smile. Since, I had some adult beverages I proceeded to tell Billy Bob how I thought he was going to be a jerk in person but that he was one of the nicest man I had met. Deniss Quaid made it back stage and we had a photo with him and then Kinky got in the photo too. Overall, the night was fabulous. I owe a big thanks to my sister being the designated driver for the evening!
