May 2013

Kennedy  had her 2nd gymnastics performance. Mimi and Kirk, Dad & Robin, August, Trey and I all attended the event. We are so proud of her!

Melanie and Lee were married on May 15, at Berry Creek Park.  She originally did not plan on having anyone attend, but shortly changed her mind after Landry asked if he could be the ring bearer. The girls then asked if they could be flower girls and the rest is history. I was so happy to a part of this special occasion. Both of them seem so in love and make each other happy. Lee’s friend who is a pastor did a beautiful job. Joseph did not attend because he didn’t want to see them kiss. I thought that was funny.  Mom had emergency eye surgery after having cataract surgery that didn’t go well, so she wasn’t able to make it.

We are so proud of artist Joseph.  His painting was selected from all the kindergartens at his school to appear at the district art exhibit at the library. The day of the exhibit where he could stand by his painting, he was running a 103 temp. Landry and Papa Bill stood in for him.

We went to the Great Wolfe Lodge to experience the indoor water park and hotel. The girls loved the howling that was made before water would be dunked on them at the outside pool. Howling would also  happen before the waves began in the wave pool.  Kennedy rode a couple of the bigger water slide that she met the height requirements on with her dad.  Kendal and Wayne came and ate dinner with us which the food at the restaurant was pretty good. The girls got to participate in the Wolfe walk and the bedtime story. Captain Peckouz had given Trey a wand to use for the magical game throughout the hotel, but we didn't know that it's only good for four days then you have to reactive the wand for $12.99. Since, the girls didn't seem like they cared about the wand game we decided not to spend the extra funds.

While in Grapevine, we drove by our duplex to make sure everything was ok there. We headed to the Sheraton to stay the night for the big Taylor Swift concert. Since, it was so loud in the stadium we decided we would walk around and try to purchase our items while the opening acts appeared. The girls each got a shirt and Trey picked them up some glow sticks. Neither of the girls wanted earplugs so I was able to replace the toilet paper Trey had put in his ears with the ear plugs to help muffle out some of the sound.  When Taylor started I loved seeing the girls get up and clap/cheer. When she sang a couple of the songs they would just sing along. Her overall performance was amazing.

On our way back from Dallas, we stopped off and visited Papawa and Daddo. We then headed to Mel's house where mom had brought over food and a pie to celebrate my ripe old age . We then went to Dad/Robin's and did some more celebrating with them. Joseph had asked to spend the night so he came home with us.

My heart is heavy for the family of four fallen firefighters that died yesterday, May 31. I'm so grateful that Trey and his truck had received an apartment fire  call minutes before the call came in for the hotel fire.  One of the firefighters, Captain Dowling, survived the fire but had both his legs amputated, he is still in very serious condition with burns and not being able to talk.
