October 2012

Tough Mudder Austin! We had such a great time doing this race. It was a lot more rocky than Dallas, but still had the same goal to help the Wounded Soldier project. Thankfully, Rhonda was able to get her badge and run with us, because she was originally scheduled for the next day. The toughest part of this event for me would of been climbing up a mud hill, it was to hard to get tracking on your own so you had to climb up bodies to get to the top. It was moving to watch people work together as a team helping anyone that needed it.  There were also three shocking obstacles. One of them while you were crawling numbed my calf when it got hit.Kenneth had gotten hit in the ear, which made his jaw lock up and see black spots. Trey and Gretchen both got shocked at the end which brought them to their knees. We all were able to do the skate board wall, Kim Hill got brought up by the boys pulling her up from her feet and she was dangling upside down.

Kennedy wrote a letter to Gus, the boy she liked last school year. Gus is being home school now, but his mom and him still sale there free ranged organic eggs at the school. She insisted I mail him the letter, which is below. I didn't have to mail it because that same day August and I ran into Gus and his mom at the Karate place around the corner where Kennedy takes gymnastics.
A fallen pecan branch at our duplex.

Mel sent this picture of the boys dressed up for I got Tied up for school day.

We were waiting on Kennedy to get out of gymnastics, so August and I walked over to the Black's Barbecue for some tea and ice cream. Black's was were we used to always stop as a family on our way to or from the coast. I had such a great time just hanging with this little one. You can't see her shirt very well, but it's of a cat and it Say's "scary cat". When people read her shirt out loud she would say "I'm not a scary cat".

Mom got put in the hospital for pneumonia. She was there for two weeks, but fortunately is out now. The Dr's ended up doing a bronchoscopy where they sucked mucus plugs out of her lungs so that her lungs could hopefully re inflate. There were a couple of close scares with her while she was at the hospital due to difficultly of breathing. I'm so thankful for the numerous visitor and prayers that she received during this time. We owe a huge thanks for Sherry, Trey's mom. She came down short noticed and watched the girls for us so that I could make it to work and spend the time I needed with mom. She took August for the week down to Rock Port so that I could take Kennedy to school and work. August had a great time with them, getting to visit with Jerry and Leona, picking sea shells, riding the buggy etc. !

When we went to pick August up from her mini vacation, we took the girls over to the Aquarium.

August couldn't wait to get a hold of one of the stinger rays. She was suppose to pet them instead of grabbing their flappers. They got a little peeved and would come and splash her.

Pretty impressed that my iphone caught the dolphins in the air.

Who's head is that in the bag?

After church we went and ate at the Roadhouse for dinner. The girls both made the comment that someone needed to clean the mess up of the peanuts all over the floor. August was happy telling everyone hello and giving high fives to the wait staff. Then she proceeded to pop up and down in the booth, telling a little child in another booth hello. All we could hear were giggles from the other side.

Some odd and end photos that I had found on the computer:

Lice, yes, Lice. The dreaded call from the school that Kennedy had got lice. There was an outbreak at the school and we thought we were in the clear. Here is a photo of Trey giving her the treatment. All I could think back to was the time growing up that my sister and I had it and couldn't ever get rid of it. The reason, our stuff animal Ralph. Mom and dad had to throw him away while we were in New York visiting family. They replaced him with a much smaller version of Ralph.

Melanie had a reptile party for Landry's 8th birthday on October 27th. Despite, my lack of the love from snakes, I tried to overcome the fear by making myself atleast touch them as they went around the room. Kennedy was a bit skeptical like me, but August was more than happy to touch any of them that came by.  August was so cute, every time the teacher said something about an animal she would repeat it. When he asked for answers to questions, she would eagerly raise her hand. It was a very interesting presentation and helped lessen the anxiety about snakes. Landry was soaked all of the information in. He loved having the bearded dragon sit on his head. After the presentation, an artist tried to teach the kids how to draw and paint a few of them.

Tracy and Steve had their annual Halloween Party. Trey was working so I went with Gretchen. This year I was a fortune teller, complaiment of Melonie Knussmann. Tracy goes all out decorating for the event. I went with Gretchen who was an amazing Carilla deville.

Halloween this year: August was Rapunzel and Kennedy was Daphine from Scooby Doo. We went to several neighbor homes first that requested us stop by. Then we met up with some of the kids from the school and went walking another neighborhood. The kids had a great time.
