January 2013

2013 started off with August having the flu. She got it even after having the flu shot. She's recovered now, but for 3 days she ran high fever. Fortunately, the rest of the family didn't get it.

The Zea's had a smore party to get everyone together before school started. We had a great time despite Trey having to be at work.

August started school with Kennedy. The mornings have been a bit difficult because she doesn't want to put the school clothes on. She instead wants to wear her "pretty clothes", especially her scared cat shirt or boo black pants. Once she gets to the school she is eager to get out and participate, except this morning. We had to take her in her pjs. Once at the school I helped change her in the bathroom and then she showed me around. I had to hand her off to Mrs. Zea with her screaming. Mrs. Zea said a few minutes went by and she just stopped crying. Of course, when I walked out the door I was in tears. You just feel so guilty leaving them when they are crying like that. Trey quickly reminded me that she is learning and with Mrs. Zea so she's safe and in caring arms. Kennedy is apparently a big help with her at school. Best sisters forever, is what the girls will say in the morning sometimes hugging. I hope that continues to be there motto.

Kennedy and August start gymnastics this month. August went happily the first day and enjoyed jumping on the trampoline. The second time she wasn't so happy. We have pulled her from gym because she cries and just doesn't want to go.I think we tried to put to much new things on her at once. Maybe next year.

On MLK Day the school was open and I had to work. When I picked the girls up I asked Kennedy if they talked about MLK Day. She said "Yes. People were just mean. Some of the people got to drink from the clean water and others had to drink from the dirty water. They were just mean." I always think it is interesting to see what sinks in with the kiddos.

August is the animal wisper....

Kennedy lost her first tooth. It was morning time and she came into the kitchen with it in her hand. She said “mom, I think I lost my tooth!” Sure enough, she had. We put it in the little tooth holder that Tracy had given the girls. The tooth fairy came and visited her at night. She says she felt her under her pillow.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed all the other ones fall out that easy.

We went and say Lynn and her boys at the Travis County Stock Show.  The girls got to participate in showing rabbits. The judge asked Kennedy what type of rabbit she had, she replied with confidence "California"(Lynn had told her the answer before he had come). Then the judge asked her what color was the rabbit and she hesitated and said White.

I took the girls to the school to play. They had so much fun despite the cold weather.

I thought Auggie looked so cute in her pig tails.

Silly sisters on their way to school

August poses before we went shopping. She loves to wear the high heel princess shoes everywhere we go.

The girls and I meet Mel and her kids at a jumpy place before we went back to their house. The kiddos had a great time seeing one another. Once back at the house, they sang karoke and changed clothes numerous of times. We went down to the lake and collect numerous of rocks. The boys went hunting but had no success finding a doe, just bucks.

Kirk left it up to Mel to cook the ribs. She did pretty good. She did have a little fire but she we able to put it out with water.

Nana came down to watch the girls for me while I was at work. They played hooky one day from school and went and got their toes and nails done. This was Augusts’ first experience and part of her birthday gift from Nana.

Payton had a birthday party at this great hamburger place.  The kids had a lot of fun running around and playing on the play set. Kylie had a little boy that she liked from her school there so she didn't want to play to much with the other little girls.

The girls keeping themselves entertained while Trey and I got some stuff out of Franks barn.

At the Autozone

The Putska's came over for dinner one evening. Here are the girls playing:

We went to Papawa's to celebrate August's birthday with dad and Robin. When she opened her presents she would say "that's just what I wanted". Papaw let the girls grab some money out of the change chair.
