August 2012

Kirk and Mimi came down to take Kennedy to the zoo. We had gone to eat at DQ ice cream and the girls kept waving and silly faces at the people who went through the drive thru. It was great, to see frowns turned into smiles.

Here are some photos of the zoo trip:

We went down to Fal to see Honey and Papaw. Honey has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's so papa didn't really want her having guest. That same day Trey was told that his other grandfather, Papaw,  had a stroke. He's doing o.k., he'll just need some therapy to get him back to speed. It hurts so bad when one day it hits you that your grandparents aren't the young pups that they used to be. We continue to pray for their health and for the loved ones that have to be the caregivers to them to give them strength.

I had taken both of my grandfather's to Luby's and August starting singing " I wear T-shirts" ...at first I didn't understand then I got it. She was trying to sing the Taylor Swift song that Kennedy always sing's "I wear T-shirts, she's cheercaptain, and I'm on the bleachers"...etc, she also mentions something about Tennies in her song. We'll August heard the song and started saying "I wear T-shirts, I wear panties" She would just giggle.

Kennedy started back to school. Here are some photos of her first day back below. She keeps telling me that all of her friends probably missed her since they didn't get to take a break for summer.  Boy, is she going to be disappointed when she realizes that everyone at her school got the month of July off!  August cried enough for both us when we dropped Kennedy off. August put on a blue dress and kept saying "I go to school with Sissy". It took about a week for her to stop crying when we dropped off Kennedy. They are still so sweet to one another. August tells Kennedy "kiss and hug". So before Kennedy gets out of the car at drop off they hug and kiss one another.

One of the days Kennedy looked a little sad. She had said Erin didn't want to be her BBF anymore cause she was playing with Dylan. I told her to wait till the next day and things would be better that sometimes people just have off days. She told me "mom, I'm a kind girl. " Yes, Kennedy you are a kind girl, but even you have bad days sometimes when we don't feel like being kind.  Guess what the next day everyone was playing together.

Tracy and I helped put together a 40th birthday celebration for Kim Hill.  We rode the pubcrawler in Austin.

On Saturday, Becky, Mel and I had our first college girls reunion. We went to Gruene, enjoyed some shopping then went to the Phoenix Saloon and listened to some music. It was great getting caught up with the gals. We already have next years planned, headed to Fredricksburg.

For the past four years, Trey and I have tried to make our way to Concan to enjoy the Frio River. We stay at Neals and enjoy some R&R from cell phones and the t.v's. The girls enjoy playing in the water and trying to float, granted the river has been pretty low these past couple of years. We picked up a lot of beer cans and plan on recylcing them. Kenneth/Laura and the girls came out on Sunday to play, as well as one of their friends that lives in Sabinal(a neighboring town). I felt like such an awful parent because Kennedy and August both got burned. Fortunately, the application of Aloa vera jell helped ease some of the pain. August woke up one morning and told me she had a sore on her shoulder.

All the girls enjoyed playing on the outside bunkbeds.

The girls loved feeding the goats. There was also a pig that August liked to go and say Hi too.

On our hike up to the house on the top of the hill. Both the girls rode on each of our soulders.

We drove around looking at different properties for sale in the area. One day we hope to own one. Here is August at the Frio Country store eating her popscicle.
