Weekend at Lake and Santa Fe trip....

I went with Kim Hill, Donna Monroe, and Tracy Sims on a long 12-14 hour road trip to Santa Fe. Tracy’s parents have a beautiful home there where they entertain some of Santa Fe’s finest. Their home itself is like a museum with all of the different art work present. We went to Jackolopes, the flea market, Milner Plaza(where we went to one of the museums there), toured downtown, drove up some mountain to the ski lift(where we got a bit silly) , and ate delicious food. The weather was so wonderful it was hard to come back to hot Texas. Here are some of the photos from our trip:

We went down to the lake and Trey fished a little. He caught a couple of fishes, but nothing really worth keeping to clean. Kylie and Kennedy went swimming in the pool.
Kennedy eating her waffle and showing how she freezes!

It's been to long to remember what really was going on in these photos. I think she was running around dancing in the house.

Potty

This morning I didn't go into work until noon, so I thought it would be a great time to try to get Kennedy to go to the potty. She was playing in her room and I brought the toilet in there so she could sit on it. She sat on it and kept saying" I'm going to pooh pooh in it" I said "that's great". But all she did was a little toot. About an hour later she wanted a piece of gum so I told her she needed to use the potty first before getting a piece of gum. Well, she went peed! She wanted to dump it in the toilet and then she needed to go some more so she did. I was so proud of her. We called and left a message on Trey’s phone….she kept saying “daddy, I peed!” I know it’s a long road ahead, but I’m so proud of her.

Pepper, Playtime, and the CTR Parade

Yes, this is a Pepper we picked from our garden that Kennedy decided she needed to take a bite out of. She says " I like peppers"....then after tasting it "I don't like peppers". She continues bitting it.....so does she like it or not?

Olivia came over to visit for a little bit while her dad and Trey talked. Olivia wanted to sit in the chair with Kennedy so Kennedy said just to sit on top of her. Well, when Olivia wanted Kennedy to sit on her, Kennedy said "won't fit".

Kennedy loves to pull everything out of drawers. Apparently, I liked to do the same thing as a kid. Here she is pulling out all the straws and cookie cutters out of the kitchen drawn. Thankfully, after they were spread out all over the floor she said "Everybody Clean Up!" So, she proceeded to put everything back in the drawer.

Joy, Frank, Mel, Kirk, and Gracie came down to the Chislom Trail Roundup Parade. It was so hot! The girls shared a pink umbrella. There was a man who dressed up in a cow outfit giving out candy that scared Kennedy. Well, all day(actually several days), she repeadtly told us how the "Cow" hurt her. When you asked how she would say" he stepped on my foot". Apparently, he somehow stepped on her foot as she was being carried...hummmmm!

Finger paint

I had bought finger paints awhile back thinking one day I would take them out and play with them. Well, today, Kennedy and I fingered painted together. She loved it. I think she liked wiping her little hands all over me better! I looked like a smurf by the time she was done with the paint. Now I am just hoping they are truely washable...so that my clothes aren't stained. Oh, well if they are, we had fun!

Team DUH!

Team DUH! Dodson, Uplinger, and Hill, although that is not how we are standing in the photo. Instead of doing the Danskin Triathlon this year by ourselves we decided to participate as a relay. We quickly realized this was a great way to participate in the event. Overall, our times were: Swimming(erica)25:24, Biking(Kim Hill) 56:37, and Running(Kim D) 33:05. All I really cared about was having fun with friends and my personal goal of beating my run time from last year(which was to be expected since I wasn't as exhausted from doing the two events before). We all had a great time!

Keith and Jordan(Erica's Husband and child) were there to cheer us on. Tracy Sims also participate in the relay. Her team did awesome too. It was so nice being able to hang out together by the bikes awaiting the next persons arrival. Relay is the way to go!

Hebbronville

Trey took Kennedy down to Hebbornville to help fix a water sprinkler. Last time she was there she grabbed a cactus and walked over to Trey and said "bite". Tim and Trey checked her over and nothing had bitten her, until she held out her hand and saw all the catcus thorns in her hand. Well, this time, that cactus wasn't going to bite her. She marched over to it and told Trey " Daddy, cactus bite....don't touch". Guess they do remember these things.

By the looks of the photos Trey took, the two of them had a great time together.
South Texas had not received rain in several months, but on their visit...it poured! It was time to celebrate and Kennedy appears to be doing her own little rain dance.

When was the last time you got to enjoy playing in the rain?

Blow out.....

Today, I went and met my old junior high/college friend Dana in Giddings to give her some baby items. It was so great getting to visit with her and seeing what a beautiful well mannered daughter her and Justin have raised.

After we left Giddings, I went out to Georgetown to say hello to the boys before I went and borrowed Becky's bike for Vern's Ash Spreading bike ride. On my way to Georgetown, I was on the back road between Georgetown and Weir when I heard a loud POP. Fortunately, there was no one behind me and I was driving slow enough not to lose control. I pulled off into a ditch more less because there was no shoulder on this road. I called Trey and he told me I needed to put the truck on level ground so that my dad could get the tire off so we could take it back to Discount Tire. Kennedy was in the back seat sleeping, but soon woke up. Dad was at the grocery store and quickly came to my rescue. A man stopped to ask if I was o.k. and I just let out the cry...saying "My dad is on his way". I guess we never grow out of having our parents come rescue us. We(Dad) got the tire off and we took it to Discount. All that the new tire cost us was $23.50 for the replacement warranty....and dad picked the bill up. What a blessing to have him there.
